Overall, Disney’s latest installment in the Tinker Bell Faries line, Secret of the Wings, is a nice little movie that the entire family can watch, though it is still geared towards younger children – and Disney fans of all ages. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track offers up a relatively immersive experience which especially comes to life during the musical performances but also sounds good during the quieter, more dialogue-driven, scenes. Similarly, the 3D also comes through quite nicely with some good depth throughout but also keeping the vibrant colors that comes through in the 2D version. Detail levels are also impressive and show no flaws like pixilation, artifacting or banding. Colors are luscious from the greens in the trees to the blue hues when in the Winter Woods. As with most animated films, whether traditional or CGI, they tend to look incredible on the small screen and this one is no different. Secret of the Wings flutters onto Blu-ray both with 2D and 3D versions. Pixie Preview: Fright Light (1:02 HD) is a teaser for the next Disney Fairies release. Pixie Hollow Games (22:34 HD) is a cute animated short featuring many of the voice cast from Secret of the Wings.
Music Videos – “Great Divide” by McClain Sisters and “Dig Down Deeper” by Zendaya Included inside is a retail DVD Copy and Digital Copy disc with code. This release comes with a glossy, thick slip cover with a lenticular front cover. It’s a simple story which is fine for kids but will probably bore some adults, though since it clocks in at only 65-minutes (sans credits) it moves at a breezy pace.
